Lenovo K220 computer
Vista Home Premium The folder view settings do not retain settings. I have selected "remember each folder view settings" in the folder options via control panel. I get tired of having to resent view setting each time I go to a folder. Thanks in advance for your help! |

Probably need to check if the number of folders exceeds 400 since Windows sets the default view settings for only 400 folders.
This default value can be increased by setting a value in the registry key, which is stored at HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell for Vista. See Troubleshooting Section in How to modify folder view settings for more details. p.s. Incorrect handling of registry key can result in problems in running the OS. |

That's a well-known bug in Vista, no solution.
Some software provide a work-around (e.g., ExplorerView), others will try to automatically enforce folder settings for you (see Filebox eXtender, Direct Folders, OpenWide, etc. at Best Free Windows Explorer Add-ons.) |
