Default Xpcom. Question

I use mozilla firefox as default browser, and have for about a year. now i cant access the internet with moz.fx. i keep getting a small window that says.... firefox (in top left corner) and the message in window is ( couldn"t access XPCOM. ).

I somehow managed to get here thru IE. but it hesitated to get to the www so i could attempt to get here.

any help would be appreciated.

I should note that on the day this took place my sbxie icon had changed to a square with right corner folded over and had what looked like 6 small boxes within the icon and i had no icon in lower tray. i gave up until this morning and i turned computer on and the sbxie icons were like they should be but i cant get to www using sbxie, i get the XPCOM. message

There is quite a bit about this in Mozilla support, this is one of the more recent entries.
