pop3 and smtp question

i attempted to send an email from a link provided, upon completion and clicking send, i was ask a series of questions in order to ...(set up email account? ). i was ask to enter pop3 and smtp, and i have no idea what this is or where to find the info, and since it said it had something to do with incoming and outgoing email and mentioned server information i stopped.

could someone please give me a brief kindergarten education and possibly a reliable link to find out how to do this using yahoo email, thanks much and happy holidays to all.

what that means, is when you clicked on the link,
- it tried to use the eMail program on that PC
which was *not* setup - hence all of those setup questions.

since you use yahoo mail, which is a web based eMail system,
therefore you do *not* have any eMail software that is setup for use.

- so the eMail link failed.
& the same thing would happen on this PC - as well.

My advice would be to abandon Yahoo! and set up an account with either Gmail or GMX. You can then install a client such as Thunderbird to collect and send emails from your PC, whilst also leaving them in your online account. I use Thunderbird in both Linux and Windows and it services 3 Gmail accounts, one webmail account and another for GMX.

you can also use T/bird to collect your eMail from yahoo.mail
http://pop2imap.com/yahoo_thunderbird.php

- it's just as good as the highly promoted Gmail - is.

- if that is what you wish to do, or stay with using it's web interface. ..
