Default Creating hard disk image on SD card

Can I create an image of my Hard Disk in an SD card?

If there is enough space and the SD card is recognized during both backup+restore, I believe so.

It is just that, whenever I have investigated the subject of Disk imaging, I have never seen or heard any mention of using an SD card for this purpose.

It is because SD cards are used in small devices, like mobiles, and cameras, and their purpose is different. They are not built for the purpose of backing up such files from computer.

Also, I don't know if an SD card will behave the same way as a flash drive, in the sense that you can boot up a computer from it, and restore the image.

You don't need to boot from the SD card itself, just storing the image there shouldn't present any major issues.

You may even be able to boot from it if you set it as bootable with a partition manager and booted from it it a USB reader.
I've done that just to see if I can.
