Question Problem: Hebrew vowels (nikud) are displayed before the letter

Demonstration of problem:

Given this demonstration SRT file, that includes voweled Hebrew (עברית מנוקדת):

(in which the vowels are displayed correctly).

However, when the SRT subtitles are used inside VLC, the vowels are displayed before their corresponding letters and not on the letter (the screen-shot is from VLC 2.1.4):

Welcome to the forum .

The latest VLC version is 2.1.5, so do update it.

As for the subtitle problem... seems like you will have to change the subtitle encoding for it to be displayed correctly.

To do that, click on Tools --> Preferences. Then go to Subtitles/OSD. Under the "Default encoding", from the drop down list, you will be able to see two encoding for Hebrew.. select them one by one to see which one displays the subtitle correctly.

You will have to change the encoding back for videos with subtitles other than Hebrew... so follow the same procedure. Also, take note of the default encoding before you make the change, so that it's easy to change to default later on.
