Turn off the USB debugging mode, and then see if the recovery software are able to work on the SD card.

And yes, if you want to recover files back from the SD card, as already told by trainman261, please avoid writing or changing anything on the SD card.. in other words, please try to do no activity on it.

And, once you've switched off USB debugging, make sure that you have USB mass storage mode chosen. It should be under storage in your device's settings - hit the menu button, and choose "USB computer connection". There should be three options: "Media device (MTP)", "Camera (PTP)", and "Mass Storage". Make sure Mass storage is checked. Then, when you connect your device to your computer, a window with an android should pop up, where it says "USB Connected", with a button, "Turn on USB storage". Then, after up to 1 minute, everything should be connected to your computer, as normal drives. File recovery software should be able to get to it if you have it set up like that.

I dont have a mass storage option.. so I did download an app for it, but its not working apparently, even though it does say MASS Storage.. on the outside menu of USB Connection type.. but inside, of course, it didnt make a new menu item.. regardless.. didnt work.

I don't know much about different modes of connection. I get two types of connections on my phone when I turn on or turn off USB debugging. I like the connection with the USB debugging turned off better.

You can similarly experiment with USB debugging turned off or on.. and with different modes that you have on your phone.

If nothing works, I would suggest to get the SD card reader, if you can afford it... because it would make things really easy, and will also present the SD card as a flash drive, on which you can run recovery software.

Ya that makes sense, it seems to be inexpensive to buy one too, I was just at a standstill in trying to resolve this, thank you for the options and I most likely will be able to retrieve the contents when I do a reader.

Thanks again.

That is really weird, because that phone is not a model that isn't supposed to have the USB mass storage option (that is, it is supposed to have it). I don't see how an app could add a menu option, unless it's root app.
Are you sure that option is not there? And what OS version does your phone have?
