Default Bsod

I need help with the Blue Screen of death. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate and don't have any discs or a backup. I know how to locate the .dmp files but no way to open them. I can't get a screen shot of the Blue Screen or don't know how.

Thank you for any help you can provide!

For help with BSOD, you need to provide two things... the error code, and the error string which are displayed on the screen when BSOD occurs.

The error code or STOP code will be of this format: 0x100000d1

and the error string/message will be of this format: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Please note them and post them here. The BSOD usually stays for enough time for you to note these two things. If not, try again.

Also, there is a small software called BlueScreenView from Nirsoft, which can help diagnose the BSOD.

Run the software, and locate the dmp file through it, and it will show a list of files which might be cause of error. So, you can run it too. Will help in diagnosis. You can post the results here for help.
