Angry Deleting xml files from my desktop

I messed up big time. Extracted over 5,000 xtml files to my desktop from an rar
file. They are scattered all over my desktop and even deleting 8 or 10 at a time will take the rest of my life!
Is there any way to delete these in bulk?

Welcome to the forum.

Well, just hit Ctrl+A, which is shortcut for select all, and then just deselect the things that you don't want to delete on the desktop, and that's it? Rest of files will be deleted, which I guess will be only xml files.

Did you press Ctrl key when trying to deselect things?

Ctrl + A will select all things. Then while pressing Ctrl key, deselect things that you don't want to delete.

Thanks, Anupam, That worked, Wasn't holding down control key when deselecting. There were over 21,000 xml files totaling 30mb deleted.
