Windows Media Player has somehow disappeared on my Toshiba laptop (Vista). It shows in All Programs as still installed but it is simply no longer on the computer. When clicking on the program I get the message "C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\uxtheme.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error..."
I have tried to find the download on the MS site but to no avail for version 11. I have no repair disk. Where can I find the download to repair or reinstall? Thank you. |

Did you go here, http://windows.microsoft.com/en-NZ/w...s-media-player?
I don't know how you couldn't find it with a simple search like "Microsoft Windows Media Player for Vista"

Obviously I did try that site. There is no option provided to actually download the program-only an option to click to "Learn More." This leads to "Getting Started with Windows Media Player." In the future why don't you consider being less presumptuous and arrogant?

On the page that Remah linked to, click on 'get Windows Media Player 11 (for Windows XP)' instead of 'learn more' - or 'Get it Now' the blue button in XP, under Vista.
I think you can only install WMP 11 on Vista, same as XP. You should get this page; http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl...r-details.aspx Select your OS via the radio buttons, click next and follow from there. I'm using Vista and WMP is version 11. Remah linked to the correct page. |

It is not at all obvious from your initial post that you had found the correct page. Why didn't you provide the information that you had found what should be the correct page but couldn't find a download link? That's different than: Quote:
You can use the search in page feature of your web browser to search for all occurrences of "XP". It's Ctrl+F in Firefox or Internet Explorer. I also use this feature often to minimize what I have to read.
