Buy in USA, Use in SE Asia

If I buy a blu ray player in the USA, will I be able to use it in SE Asia? Not only is the electricity different, but the formats are different too. In Asia the elec is 240 50 cycles and the format is PAL.
Help please...

Sounds like you need a multi-regional blu ray player.

It should be no problem.

The playback format is usually irrelevant nowadays as it is unusual to have media players which cannot handle both NTSC and PAL. Manufacturers tend to cater for both rather than building different machines.

Try to get a Blu-Ray player that can switch between voltages. They are usually made for 120/240V because the double winding is simplest and still caters for 110V and 250V. Otherwise you will need a step-down transformer if it hasn't got a separate power adapter. Either way an adapter/transformer should be less than USD25, much less in most parts of Asia.

joeguru is right about getting a player that handles all regions as SE Asia is a different BD region. However, in SE Asia many pirated products will have no zone anyway.
