HI
I keep getting this icon - which disappears when the mouse is set on top of it.
Any ideas what is it ?
Thanks

No idea, but when the icon disappears, it means that the program's process has ended.
Check your startup using Run>msconfig or try a program from here: http://www.techsupportalert.com/best...up-manager.htm

Agreed with JL, the process that created that icon has likely been terminated.

In general, when a user moves the mouse over an icon in the taskbar notification area, the system checks if the process which created that icon is still running. If not, the system will remove the icon.

Check through the startup programs as suggested, also a try to run CCleaner or other Tune Up Utilities to remove some unwanted programs can be helpful.

See also if it is listed from here:

Right click on Start Button from the taskbar -> Properties -> Taskbar -> Customize.

Check both Current and Past Items, see if that icon is listed and what the description is next to it.

It might be something to do with the language setting for your keyboard. I have noticed this before on XP when I've teamed a UK English keyboard with a system set for US English when it was originally loaded with a different language. :confused:

Looks like it may be a Chinese character icon;

but the only way to see which program it is associated with is to check your system.

One way to do this is to use REVO uninstaller in hunter mode. Place the target reticule over the icon, and REVO should tell you what it is and deinstall it if desired. You can find revo here;

For info on hunter mode;
