What kind of advice are you looking for exactly? Please be specific, otherwise it's quite a vague request you are making.

I'm not sure what you're needing, but I can tell you that there is a direct upgade path from XP to 8.
When Windows 7 was released there wasn't a direct upgrade path from XP to 7.

Windows 8 comes with quite a learning curve, even for those who've been using Windows for years.

Thanks rhiannon, the guy who I am getting my new laptop from is moving data from Xp to W8 for me, am expecting some of my favourite programs not to fire up, just as long as internet and MS Flight Simulator X run smoothly, I will be happy. I imagine it will take a while to get the hang of W8.
