Default Eudora forums?

They were working ~6-9 months ago. Any info about that?

xp, sp3 on an old laptop
Eudora 7.1 circa 2006, Paid Mode opened after development ended
Forums had slow, steady activity last year.

It seems that since people don't want to accumulate email on mobile devices, serious development of email programs/readers ended. Still, in 6-7 years since, why has no one yet matched Eudora's functionality and features?

I have not used either, but it looks like Eudora is being developed now as open source project called Penelope.

Oops I forgot to note, but I think the open source version of Eudora was abandoned long ago too. The Eudora code was not released, so the open source project was starting from scratch. I think Thunderbird collaborated, but they didn't get anywhere near to a significant contribution to Thunderbird. And Thunderbird didn't seem anywhere near as good as Eudora when I checked.

So, seven years in limbo, and Eudora remains a sort of gold standard. Weird.

So, does anyone know if the forums are continued in some new location? If not, will they be?

The pathetic Thunderbird project never got off the ground. The folks that sought to take it with the open code source didn't. In other words, they just plain lost interest. Eudora was the number one project but it is a well known fact that the writers fought like werewolves and since they could not get along, they abandoned it. Then these clowns decided to take over and develop Thunderbird but it never had much thunder to it. It was a loser. Now they've gone and done closed down the forums. No need for that but one individual is responsible for that and we know who it is.
