Is this uncdms.dll message an scan, or do I need to redownload the files again to complete the process? Is their some free downloading website that I can access to perform an free downloading of the needed uncdms.dll to fix the problem? Any other suggestions welcomed. Please keep it simple as possible. Just a warning, please do not download or install any of the third party software mentioned in the above link.
And why are you still using XP SP2? It is not secure to use SP2. Download the SP3 patch, and upgrade your system to SP3, which will make it more secure.

Have tried downloading wxp sp3 & patch from several sites, with no results.
I keep getting this notice, that "download wan't complete, missing uncdms.dll, retry again" Do I need to run antivirus, malire programs for possible problems, when download uncdms.dll from some software utility program, then retry downloading wxp sp3 & patch? |

If you have a WinXP SP2 CD, I would encourage you to run System File Checker. For information about this utility, please see the following:

jjoe, did you try uninstalling/reinstalling Windows Desktop Search as per the link that George.J provided? Most of the links where I searched for uncdms.dll problem, they provided the same solution.

Hi All,
Just finish using Revo Uninstaller, twice scanned & fixed errors, yet continue to get this same message "download wan't complete, missing uncdms.dll, retry again" again. Would removing windows search solve this problem, please provide simple details? |

Update,
I can get to the windows update page in wxp, but after using the express and custom buttons, for updates, the messages says "The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view" also still can't download any .dll fixes or wxp sp3 & patches as well. |
