I am also not sure who posted those links Bo. I don't use the first link to install flash player, so it was not me who posted that. Not sure about the other one, dont remember. Does not matter though.

Yea, Garth, I have both the flash player, and its ActiveX counterpart. ActiveX one is required for IE. Although, I don't use IE, but I still install the ActiveX, because I may need flash to work on IE anytime, and I don't want to keep it insecure.

You got the right ones, the active X is for IE and the other one
for Firefox. Look at the picture of my FF plugin window, your
Flash should look exactly as mine.
I dont use Flash on IE so I dont have the Active X installed.

Yup it looks exactly like yours now. I took the ActiveX one off my system 'cause i must have had this Windows installed six months and i've not used IE once. Got rid of QuickTime too since i don't even know what i installed it for.

As a routine, when a new version of Adobe Flash Player is released I download the uninstaller from :-
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

and both the universal plugin, and activex installers from :-
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashp...ort/index.html

Then I just run the three of them in succession (obviously uninstaller first) and I'm done. No toolbars, no download manager, very quick and easy

(I do have the direct download links for them too but rules don't allow me to post them here).

I am doing it exactly like you Sope, using the same
links. Nothing extra gets added.
