Potplayer Help

Hello guys, I assume most of you know the free program, Potplayer. I need some help. I know that some people use this Potplayer program to stream shows live on a website called justin.tv and I was wondering how they do it. I downloaded the program and I looked all over on that thing and I can't find out how to stream live on justin.tv, on my justin.tv account, I have no clue on what to do. Can someone please help me? Much appreciated!

Hello Highway Hunter.

1 - Open Pot Player.

2 - Get the URL of the site that you want to stream. Various ways to do this but easiest might be just to open the website in your browser then highlight and copy the URL from the address bar.

3 - Right-click Pot Player, select 'Open' then 'Open URL' from the context menu. (Or, CTRL+U)

4 - Paste the URL into the dialogue that appears and click OK.

That should be it. It might take a few secinds to start playing. Some sites (Youtube for e.g.) don't support being played directly in Pot Player but you can get a small program called SVP Tube which will fix that if you need it.

Let us know how you get on : )

I tried that but it didn't work. I keep getting an error message saying, a problem has occurred while starting playing. Can not play the media file, server is down or address error

Right, yes. I just tried it myself and got the same result. You can see by the format of the URL that it isn't going to work easily.

SVP Tube fails to recognise Justin TV URLs but I googled and found this which claims to do it - https://github.com/chrippa/livestreamer

It's a command line program but there's a tutorial here for it - http://livestreamer.tanuki.se/en/lat....html#tutorial. I don't have time to try it myself right now as I'm not especially good with CLI.

A quick scan around the internet shows a lot of people discussing how to get the rtmp for streaming from twitch/justin URLs, I'll have a proper look when I have more time.

... what I did find by the way which might or might not help. I have an add on in Firefox called NetVideoHunter, which picks up the videos playing in Justin. Right-clicking videos in the NetVideoHunter list to copy the URL and then opening that in Pot Player appears to work for some links but it's very erratic. Just thought I'd mention it as it might be a step in the right direction.
