Default Disable UAC to use ERUNT?

For a long time now I've been thinking of using ERUNT to backup my Registry. However, according to the author, UAC must be disabled if you are using Windows Vista or 7. This has been a major issue for me since UAC is an integral part of Windows security. In other words, I'm reluctant to turn it off and thereby contribute to circumventing my own security. Therefore my questions are:

1. Are there any TSA members using ERUNT with Window Vista or later?

2. How do they get around the UAC problem?

3. Do they just turn UAC off long enough to run ERUNT then turn it back on?

4. I want to use ERUNT on Windows 8 or 8.1 - does anyone know if it will work?

What do you advise?

TIA.

I don't get the problem because I'm always backing up to a user folder (on my backup drive ie not a folder in the WINDOWS system folder) and I run ERUNT as administrator. I don't have to disable UAC to do this so you could do the same.

Thanks for the response Remah.

Yes, I understand I should run ERUNT as an administrator, but I don't quite understand what you mean by "...to a user folder (on my backup drive ie not a folder in the WINDOWS system folder)". Do you mean I should save the backup on an external drive? Do you mean that once I run ERUNT as an administrator and save the backup to an external drive I don't have to turn off UAC?

According to the author...
Quote:
ERUNT and NTREGOPT in their current versions 1.1j are still compatible with Windows 7, but as in Vista, they will only work correctly if you turn off User Account Control in Windows' Control Panel (move the slider to the lowest position).
How I interprete that is ERUNT will work but it may not work correctly if I don't turn off UAC. So, is my understanding correct?

Also, what Windows version are you using Remah? I would like to use ERUNT on Windows 8.1.

Set it up as a Scheduled Task on Start Up with Task Scheduler.
That is the way I do it for Windows 7
