Default Change Gimp as default image viewer

Hello revboy,

I believe in a previous post you said you are using XP? In Windows 7, if I right click on the file and choose Open with--> Choose default program that does the trick. I don't think it's much different in XP. You should try it.

Yes that's fine Joe A.TT, I understand that, but what I don't like is when I double click on an image file it automatically opens in Gimp, and I don't want that, do you get me ?

Are you saying that you've set another program as the default to open your image file and GIMP still opens it if you double click on it? Strange.

Default Gimp.

Thanx I found from the net what I wanted, via control panel, filetypes, change, then you can set any program to open graphic files that you nominate. I just don't like a particular program taking over, unless I want it to, especially gimp because it is a large program. So problem solved, thanx for your help Joe A.TT.

Yeah. I know what you mean - it's about having control of your computer. Some programs give you the choice to choose that option upon initial installation, others don't. Glad you found the answer though . BTW, for issues like these you can search the Windows Help and Support too (which mainly resides on your computer), instead of searching on the Internet - just saying...
