Default FreeNote software

Hi,

I am new to this site and very new to computers in general. From my research, I find that I need FreeNote on my computer to do outlines. I have not been able to figure out how to download it to my computer.

I am hoping there is someone out there who has patience and can walk me through this process. I find it impossible to find anyone who will teach older people how to use things on the computer. I am not familiar with very much of the modern computer jargon and terms, which makes it hard for me to understand what computer users consider simple language. I need to have someone explain this to me in plain English.

Will anyone help me?

Hi crafterone, welcome to the forum.

Can you please provide a link for the FreeNote site? Because, the one that I saw has a red WOT rating, means it's a bad site, and therefore, we will not advise you to download from there.

There are other outliners on this review, that you can choose from.

There are also software available for note taking, here :

You can read the reviews, and choose a software of your choice. For further queries, please post back.

The links are in the Quick Selection Guide section under the review. When the download page opens, there is a link to the last version released by the original author (1.6.9), plus a link to the new project page which is now being authored by another developer.

crafterone, I can understand your confusion. Earlier, the link for the homepage pointed to this link :

http://www.tranglos.com/free/index.html

and it takes a bit of a time to notice the KeyNote link on the side. So, I have changed the home link of KeyNote to the product page itself, to make things simpler :

http://www.tranglos.com/free/keynote.html

When you go to the above page, under the KeyNote: Download heading, you will see Download locations. Under that is the download for the setup titled as Direct download from this site. When you place the mouse over the link, you can see what the link is. Click on that link, and it will ask you to save the setup file.

Save it on your computer, and when it's downloaded, you can then install it.

As written by MC above, the program is no longer being developed, but based on KeyNote, a new project is there now, the link of which MC gave. Here it is again :

http://code.google.com/p/keynote-nf/

It's titled KeyNote NF, the NF meaning new features.

It is supposed to be newer and better. To download it, go to its download page here :

http://code.google.com/p/keynote-nf/downloads/list

The file marked as Release_1.7.8.1 (true version).rar is the one to download.
