thanks @George.J I'll have to see if I can dig out the webcam and give it a try because that webcam didn't have a make on it, I think I've binned the scanner because I got a printer that scans but it would be cool if I could get the webcam to works , thanks again

thanks george for your advice , i will deffo use that method in the future although it didn't work for my webcam which i'm starting to think is actually just broken now because no matter what i try i can't get it work or even power up so i think it's broken it doesn't matter because i have one on my laptop thanks again.
