Nice version of How Can I Tell You by Cats Stevens, at Viņa del Mar, Chile. I don't see the world as he sees it but his old music, this song, is beautiful. As he does here, he should play the rest of his many old great songs without fear as there is nothing wrong with doing it.

RIP Brother Gregg.
Here is Melissa, one of Gregg's best songs if not his best. Celebrate his life by listening to it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFJ20eNspzo Bo |

A couple more songs from Gregg and the brothers.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-bBWbrHgGE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_8E_lyILFo This picture is the cover of the first ABB album (1969). In the picture up front we see Gregg and Butch (who died early this year). Right behind them, in the second row are Duane and Barry, who both died tragically in separate motorcycle accidents in the early 1970s. And in the back, we see Jaimoe and Dickey Betts, the now remaining members of the original Allman Brothers Band who are still alive. They took the picture at a building in Macon, Georgia that was abandoned at the time. Later in the 70s it became a well known restaurant named Beals. I went there a few times in the 70s. Heard it on the news here last night. Great musician and songwriter, one of which, Midnight Rider, has always been a favourite of mine;
https://youtu.be/DFiYmLNh4Qw Sad day for you, bo. I know the Allman Brothers Band were big favourites of yours ![]() |

We ll miss him for sure. I feel lucky that I went to college in the city they made their home, were they recorded, that got me into the ABB thing for life. When I was there Duane was a legend already despite only been dead for 4 years. Everybody everywherev was Duane this Gregg that there was always something in the air about this guys. Seeing them grow as the decades go by has been fun and satisfying. Now Gregg is with his brother, Berry Oakley and Butch playing in heaven.

Listening to ABB, Live @Fillmore, Elizabeth Reed (my favorite of all)...
Bo: My niece is at Mercer Law School, her fiance is a partner at a Macon firm his Great Grandfather started (Don't remember the name, I think it maybe a single name?)... they represented the ABB Family for a long time (still do I think), including Gregg's kids that live around Savannah. They were all at the Funeral, my niece was amazed at how much he was loved, she never saw joy like that, not just the grief. She's 24 now, didn't appreciate who they were, she is now a rabid fan, calls my Son frequently to ask for more and more new things to listen to, Gregg solo, Live (Ludlow's Garage, Beacon Theater), Bootlegs, new generation (Gov't Mule, Tedeschi Trucks), Duane on Layla, Boz Scaggs, Muscle Shoals, visited Elizabeth Reed's grave, all things ABB. She is a convert and a believer, can't believe music like this was actually played live!!!! ![]() Slowly it happens, one by one. |
