Listening to Stax and Motown, jazzradio fr. Good music this morning. These are some of the songs they've played.

The Show Stoppers - Ain't Nothing But A House Party;

Junior Walker and the All Stars - Roadrunner;

The Four Tops - Bernadette;

The Detroit Spinners - Rubberband Man;

... love these old songs. My mum used to play them on an old Fidelity record player when I was a little kid, mono, box type player with a lift up lid. Then later on the radiogram they bought - which was stereo! - very posh

Still great songs, though.

Here is Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes playing slide a la Duane. Great tune to follow Mean old world. The guy by the door is Butch, Derek's uncle.

Yes, any version that has Chuck Leavell (playing piano) is a nice version. He is one of my all time favorite ABB members.

Here is an early classic ABB song. The bad about this version is that you cant hear the lyrics but it shows the original band (rare), pre Duane's and Berry's death. The Allman brothers is one of those rare bands that used two drummers at the same time. Early in the video, you see Jaimoe (black guy) and Butch Trucks drumming at the same time. And Duane, Berry (bass) and Dickie jamming.

In this version you can listen to the lyrics. In my opinion, the first few lines of this song are as good as any. Classic line about waking up with the blues, outstanding.

Last time I saw Gregg Allman was at a free beach concert in the early 80s in Miami. This (Dreams) is the one song that reminds me of that concert.

Nice song, Bo ... can't say I've ever heard it before.

A live version of Blue Sky, one of my favourite Allman Brothers songs. 1991 in Germany, Warren Haynes playing the slide;
