We appreciate there was no malintent behind your posting but if we permit this in general the mods would need to spend ages analyzing text via Google translate which is not an ideal way for them to operate. Thank you for your understanding.

Yep, sorry about that, MC. That did actually cross my mind before I replied to bibzgi's post so point taken, no problem

Being homesick while working in Europe, inspired James Taylor to write this beautiful song.

JT and his wife, Carly Simon.

Carly, I like this song. The story about it is that she wrote it while waiting for her date to arrive, Cat Stevens.

When I was kid and we went to a Coca cola party, we all wanted to be the guy Carly is talking about in this song. Those were the days.

Carole King wrote many beautiful songs, this are two of them. Really nice piano, stylish music, beautiful singing, that's Carole King. JT plays along in So far away.

Being a star and close to Stalin's inner circle and survive the horror, he must of been a pretty smart fellow.

I like songs that have an story behind. Greg Allman wrote Melissa in 1967/68, this was not one of those songs that get written in 15 minutes. According to the legend, he couldn't finish up the song because he couldn't come up with the name for it.

So, one night, while he and his brother Duane were staying at a motel in Florida, he ran to the grocery store and while in line waiting to pay for milk and groceries, there was a lady behind him with her daughter. The little girl was playing, teasing her mom, running around the store, and then the mother called her, "Melissa, come back! Melissa!"

Thats how Greg got inspired to name the song, Melissa. Greg thanked the lady, went to the motel to finish up the song. And told Duane the lady most of thought she met a crazy guy at the store.

The first link is for the original version with Duane and Greg done long before there were an Allman brothers band. The second link is for a later version done after Duane's death. Both versions are great, the one with Duane playing slide is classic. But Dickeys input in latter versions of the melody is really nice too.

Smart girl.

Dickey Betts wrote this jewel for his daughter Jessica. Another pretty name for a pretty song. I love the piano by Chuck Leavell at about 2:28. Thats classic ABB sound.
