Beatlemania, MC. That's a great story. I remember there was a newsagents shop close to the school I attended at that time. We used to gather in front of the shop window and gaze at all the Beatle's stuff on sale there. Badges shaped like guitars with pictures of each Beatle embedded into them, copies of signed photographs to collect, and bubblegum cards. But the best thing I remember were plastic Beatle's wigs, styled with the 'Beatle cut'. A friend of mine at the time had one, a prized possession. We ended up holding it over a garden bonfire on a stick and melting it - far more entertaining to us at the time than wearing it. Shame really. I bet it would be worth a few bob these days if he'd kept it.

Dickey Betts wrote this song, his style is all over. Before the song starts, the guy talking is Duane Allman.

Great song, Bo - one of my favourite Allman's songs.

There's a good version of it, live in Germany 1991, here;

Agree, both are great. "Dickey is the great one, I am the famous one", thats what Duane Allman use to tell people when talking about Dickey. Thats how the legend goes.

I love this next song, I must of post it 3 or 4 times before at least. Both, Dickey and Duane play here.

This song was written by Greg for Berry and brother Duane.

Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks playing Old friend before a concert. The bald guy that leaves the room before they start playing, is Butch Trucks, Dereks uncle and one of the two drummers of the original ABB band (1969).

One more, the good part starts after the silly words are over, 3:25. I believe it was recorded live, Florida (Dec 1970). Eric and Duane playing Layla, better than the studio version IMO.

Paul Kossoff and Jim Capaldi - You And Me;

... one of the best songs ever. I don't think anyone played a guitar with so much soul than Paul Kossoff.

And again, with Paul Rodgers lead vocal, Jess Roden backing vocals, pretty much the original Free line up plus John Bundrick - Molten Gold;

Hard to believe Paul Kossoff recorded so many great songs with Free and then later with Back Street Crawler, yet died at only twenty five years old. Drugs again, tragic. I reckon he was one of the best ever British guitarists.

Stories by Butch Trucks, I love the ones about Clapton and Duane and the one about the Fillmore cover.

Great song, written by Scott Boyer (Cowboy), made famous by Eric and performed here by Boyer, Cowboy and Duane Allman. I just heard four or five versions of this song, that's how much I like the song. Its got a great story behind, easy to find in the internet.

If I want soothing mood music I listen to anything Mark Knoffler sings.
