They totally nailed it that night
I know . I watched it live that night since I lived close to Essen at the time. It was the first time I heard that song. The Rockpalast Nights were quite an event in those days. Made Dire Straits and ZZ Top way famous in Germany too.

I still have the concert, recorded on a cassette by a German friend of mine, and although we do still have a cassette player here I very rarely play it, if ever - worried the cassette band may snap now. It's a 120, a bit thin. The concert was also shown on the BBC that night and I watched it here, they used to link up to Rockpalast for live concerts back then if I remember correctly. Anyway, long story, but when I went back over to Germany the guy I stayed with had recorded it and gave me the cassette tape. Funny you mention ZZ Top there, because that's where I first heard them, in Germany. Small world

March 28th, 1981. Venue - Grugahalle, Essen, West Germany (how times change)

Don't ever need to wear that old cassette out now

The Weight (The Band) played here by The grateful dead, I specially like the Miss Moses and crazy Chester verses.
