Wait for USB Type-C. It's reversible just like Apple's Lightning connector. No more Up Side Bottom.

I'd be ecstatic to see the back of mini-USB connectors. I hate them and they've caused me no end of problems with pocket-size USB drives.

They should make the drives slightly larger and use the standard sized - and way more durable and reliable - USB sockets, imho.

Ok whinge done. More funny pics please

But we don't rely on monkeys to design everyday tools.

Perhaps we should!!

Maybe it's good to find out from Ajay Bhatt, co-inventor of the USB, who works on the new design to make the cable insertable either side up. According to Wikipedia, the original design left this out to make manufacturing as inexpensive as possible.

For a standard non-reversible USB plug, the USB icon is embossed on the "topside" of the plug. But ironically, a mobile device I recently bought has a receptacle that requires the topside of the plug to face down for insertion.

Go figure.

Ubuntu is an ancient african word that means "I can't configure Debian"

Guy to girl: Go make me a sandwich!
Girl: no way!
Guy: sudo go make me a sandwich
Girl:...ok

The box said 'You need Windows XP or better' .... so I installed Linux.

Is Windows a virus?
No, Windows is not a virus. Here's what viruses do:
They replicate quickly - okay, Windows does that.
Viruses use up valuable system resources, slowing down the system as they do so - okay, Windows does that.
Viruses will, from time to time, trash your hard disk - okay, Windows does that too.
Viruses are usually carried, unknown to the user, along with valuable programs and systems. Sigh... Windows does that, too.
Viruses will occasionally make the user suspect their system is too slow (see 2.) and the user will buy new hardware. Yup, that's with Windows, too.
Until now it seems Windows is a virus but there are fundamental differences:
Viruses are well supported by their authors, are running on most systems, their program code is fast, compact and efficient and they tend to become more sophisticated as they mature.
So Windows is not a virus. It's a bug.

CrunchBang Linux Halts Development

Before this announcement:

Newbie: "I hear about this Linux thing too. How do I get that?"
Linux Advocate: "Well, you start by choosing from 10,294 confusing distros and dozens of different desktops..."
Newbie: "Uh, I think I'll just choose Windows or Mac instead."
