Default Intel Atom C2000 chips are bricking products

"Intel indicated in a January 2017 revision of its Atom C2000 family documentation that the chip line contains a clock flaw. Errata note AVR.54, titled "System May Experience Inability to Boot or May Cease Operation," explains that the Atom C2000 Low Pin Count bus clock outputs (LPC_CLKOUT0 and LPC_CLKOUT1) may stop functioning. Permanently."

Good news for AMD I guess.

Yes. After all, the Ryzen high performance processors are coming soon. This Atom flaws could help to drive some attention to AMD.

Back on topic, I wonder what is going to happen to the people who bought these faulty equipment. So many vendors and so many 'small prints' within the warranty...

Let's wait and see

Well good luck trying to get anything replaced for whatever reason here in Brazil.
Maybe customers in countries with a functioning consumer protection system will have better luck.

Going back to AMD, I've always been a fan, especially of their graphics capabilities, but in truth the i5 is the most versatile chip for the majority of home users not requiring the extra functionality of an i7. It now looks like this is all about to change.

"If these figures are remotely in the ballpark, Intel is in for a world of hurt."

I remember AMDs promising CPU test results last time they had a major new product line. Those CPUs proved to be much less attractive when they were finally released. This time it looks more likely but I wouldn't bet on it.

Well, AMD's new Zen architecture is very different to the older Bulldozer, Piledriver, Steamroller, and Excavator architectures. AMD knows many people lost their confidence in the company once the processors didn't live up to the expectations.

This new Zen architecture looks promising. I'll create a new thread because I don't like the idea of having it within a topic about a faulty Intel processor

I've moved this into the "System" thread because it's likely to get missed here in ChitChat.
