Default WinPatrol - Abandonware??

When Bill Pytlovany was in charge, I remember getting updates regularly. However, ever since Ruiware/Bret Lowry took over, updates seemed to have dried up. In fact, the last update was on July 27th, 2015 - more than a year ago. Has WinPatrol been abandoned? Anybody knows what's going on?

Bit more info and some conflicting opinions here.

IMO for what I use it for such as warnings for PUP's and auto-start entries, it should continue to function well enough without updates. After all, a lot of folks are still using Sygate.

Thanks a lot for the link MC. I don't know how I didn't think about researching this issue before I started this thread. Anyway, that was some very, very interesting reading. Now that I am somewhat up to date on the issue, I must say that Ruiware, Lowry and company are poor successors to BillP. As Digerati puts it "...what you "inherited" is what you "bought into" - hopefully with eyes wide open."

I agree. BillP is one of a kind and sadly a dying breed in terms of really useful and genuine freeware.
