Mind you, they might have better chances this time around by "imposing" their new "update" to make it popular. The common folk might not give it a second look and just let it slip by like any other "update".

Windows Apps means mobile goodies on PC! On a more serious note, I'm not sure why I replaced Windows 7 with the Windows 10 Insider Preview, wouldn't do that again or rollback.

At least I got the PC to a clean-ish state with Factory Reset w/o the need for any installation media.

As a platform, Windows 7 is not the best. Windows 8.1 is already a better platform: more secure, better integration of modern features (power, touch, etc), better scalability on different devices and screens, and so on.

I also expect that Windows 7 will hang around just as long as XP. One additional reason that it is the last version of Windows that primarily runs as a 32-bit OS. Windows 8 and 10 primarily run as a 64-bit OS. That means Windows 7 users who want to upgrade may not have compatible hardware which was not as big an issue with XP. The 64-bit Windows installed on most new PCs will put off others who can't run old device drivers and other software.

Other than mobile features, is there anything that you like more about 10 compared to 7? If you were to have a laptop or desktop without touch screen features, is there anything in 10 that stands out better than 7 for you?

I guess security is another one. Otherwise, I'll have to dig pretty deep to find anything more.

So, Dedoimedo is right.

Unless you deal with touch screen devices, there's really not much to look forward too.
In fact, even after subscribing to MS newsletter for Win 10, other than a confirmation letter with a few links to short video, they don't seem to have much to brag about. Even major software sites and magazines don't chatter about it that much. Think i get more excitement expectations wise from forthcoming LinuxMint!

Even if Win 10 becomes a fail, at least it won't be another Vista!

it’ll probably be as "good" as Win_8 is/was .. ..

what will prevent OPs from 'upgrading' is Hardware:
- touch screen
- VTx type cpu
will both be problematic.

The most noticeable good point with Windows 10 Preview is the fact that my laptop is much more quiet! Not that it was all that bad compared to others i've heard, but still, much more silent.

Cons:
Edge browser isn't much faster than IE 11.
Windows 10 People App search crashes still (even if reported at least two months ago).

Think i'll just wait for stable (if i decide to test again).

Pros:
[edited] and 360 Total Security found no drivers to update or patches to patch!
OneNote has a nice little revamp, reminds me of Evernote.

Cons:
Feels more like an alpha version than a beta.
Lingering crashing issue of Windows People App.
Took quite a while to install updates (often at stand still).

Windows 10 Preview 10130

Pros:
Version 10130 is much more stable than previous versions (at least on my SSD laptop).
Boots up in less than 25 seconds.
Shuts down in less than 20 seconds.
PIN now retained with user email.

Cons:
Can't get [edited] to work with it (not even as Windows 7 option).
Had to re-install this version in order to have default browser set (tried Cyberfox first time - now working fine with Chrome).
