Default The ultimate computer fix

At last someone has come up with the ultimate fix for malfunctioning hardware.

Unfortunately "The computer is not expected to recover."

I was once guilty of hardware abuse.

During the years I've lived in Brazil I've gradually learned to accept that conditions and services are not the same (to be expected) as those I enjoyed previously in the UK. I hardly ever get two straight days for instance when my DSL cable connection works. To cope with this I have a mobile broadband account as backup but this is often just as bad. In any case to get a signal on it I have to use a USB extender and hang the **** modem thing out of the window (or use the laptop and work outside ). During one particularly bad period I actually threw this thing out into the garden.

There are still plenty of 'not spots' in the UK, thankfully becoming rarer now. A promised 2MB fixed line from BT that, when it worked, was sometimes down as low as 9k - just enough to hold a conversation (call for help/beer) on Messenger - nothing else. It sometimes held up for a week or two at ~1.2MB, not so bad for 7.5km of copper.

And the mobile was almost as bad, top of a ridge at 1,000ft meant that multipathing issues led to frequent trips into the garden, trying to find a spot with 1 connection, not 3 of them all clamouring for our weak signal. Plenty of dead computers there, none from gunshot wounds, more's the pity

Fun times!
