Help please with spreadsheet

Hi guys, I am hoping that someone is good at spreadsheets. When it comes to figures my mind just can't sort them out. I can do basic spread sheet stuff, but this has just gotten me beat! If you look at the last miles to the gallon, it states that my wee car has done an amazing 187 miles to the gallon! So somewhere its not right. So does anyone know what I can do to resolve this. Quite simply I take the miles I have done and change the liters to gallons. As I wanna know how the car is performing. I am on a tight budget and this helps me know how much the car needs for journeys. Hope you can assist as its driving me crazy. And the gallons are UK on USA.

Hi Tony, I believe 3.785 Liters is a gallon.

According to your numbers, you have traveled 4414 miles using 425 Liters/112.32 gallons. If you divide 4414 miles into 112.32 gallons, the figure that comes up is 39.29 miles per gallon. Approximately, that's the mileage that you are getting out of your car. Not bad.

Hi Tony, I've copied your spreadsheet over and inserted some formulas.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...kE&usp=sharing

I don't see any mistakes there. The unusual miles per gallon can possibly due to human errors in recording either mileage at fill-ups or litres for 5th Sept, or missing out a record before that date. The conversion from litre to imperial gallon is correct.

Bo, the US gallon and the Imperial gallon are different volumes. Tony's conversion is correct for England, Australia, NZ, etc.

Hi Remah, Tony used the word "Liter" and mentioned USA. The word Liter is used in the US, you guys use Litre instead. In the Americas, our gallon is equal to 3.78541178 Liters. I used the conversion that I use everyday.

Spelling real English is always a challenge on a website with a US dictionary. That's why people use US spellings here.

All the destinations are Lincolnshire in the UK.

I'm not sure what this means in the original post.

[Edit: I think it means the gallons are UK not USA.]

Mathematically either we use imperial or US gallons, we'll get the same result of unusual high mileage for 5th Sept so long as either of the conversion rates is consistently applied to all transactions.

The human error for Sept 5 is obvious, it can be ignored as it doesn't make any difference, the bottom line is that he is getting great mileage out of his car.

Remah, I hate assuming and never do, even when its obvious that it is safe to do so (like here, Tony is in England so he means...).:)
