Unfortunately Windows still scores hands down for its ability to install into a wide variety of hardware configurations. Having said that, if a particular Linux runs OK as a live session, it ought to install OK as well unless you encounter a bug such as:

I also have better results with live sessions and installs from DVD's than I do from USB.
