No, HIPS looks for the bad guys entering your system using a variety of detection methods such as signatures, "behaviour characteristic of malware",etc. What GesWall does is to isolate (mainly) your internet facing applications so that they cannot spread anything using the network. As I said, not sure just where this might fit in for most people especially as it seems to be a lot of trouble to manage when you could use Sandboxie instead. Still intend to give it some more constructive PC time when I am able, but this might not be for a while.
