Default Shifting Realities in Science and Technology

Two rather different Science & Technology articles today from the BBC website today, both somehow related to how we perceive and interact with the world:
  • One regards likely ways in which the internet will continue to change our lifestyles by interacting ever more directly with everyday 'things'. Virtual reality becoming increasingly "real"? I'm still trying to get my head around this fast changing reality shift:
Internet of things blurs the line between bits and atoms.
  • The other article regards quantum physics - a field which is considered notoriously difficult to talk about in our everyday language, partially because we as human animals are simply not equipped to have any direct sensory experience on such levels. Don't panic! This brilliantly designed experiment focusing on our perceptions of photons seems to allow us to 'see' quantum reality in a way that was previously thought to be impossible:
Quantum mechanics rule 'bent' in classic experiment.
