I checked out that site earlier Yes! Linux will always be free. I was trying to frame the question around how Linux will become as main stream as Microsoft.

I also. Have considered that maybe it was never meant too.

I would hope Ubuntu will remain free.

To be fair Linux has made great progress especially due to Ubuntu's ability to attract such a great number of users. Still IMHO. I still don't think even the popular Ubuntu is there yet. Maybe modestly priced stable and polished distro's would be worth the assets made by purchases, which then could be used to take Linux to the next level. (At what point does the greed factor kick in? Or could this emerging product actually bring work to people?)

Maybe Just a naive curiosity
