Yes, I like a fresh install, too! However, doing it every six-nine months still seems like a major task to me, being a Linux / Linux Mint newb myself. I went as far as trying a rolling release Linux distro but didn't like it as much as Mint.

One of the problems I find is that, for me, Thunderbird's export/import feature doesn't save all my contacts (same happened in Windows).

Recently I *had* to do a fresh install and I forgot to back-up / write down the log-in details for my website

Apologies if I'm preaching to the converted but you really do need to back-up *everything*.

The one time I used the Update Manager it was like one-click and it was done, no messing.
