When you set Windows updates to Never check for updates, you can update your computer by downloading the updates installers and running them. This is a good way to update computers that are not connected to the internet (the quote). Or, visiting Windows updates and scanning manually for updates. Then choosing what to update and when to do it. The way I do it. Doing updates this way works good for me, it should work fine for you too.
