As i wait to try again later, i read that if you have plenty of RAM (in my case 8G) you don't need the swap partition. Could this have a noticeable impact? If so, then i could simply partition with / and /home ?

Did notice in Ubuntu and LinuxMint that the swap wasn't being used.
Because they have just been featured on Distrowatch there must have been a surge in traffic. No doubt they will rectify this as soon as they realize.

I never bother with a swap partition but each to their own.
