Freeware Forum Poll
How about launching a new freeware forum? Come and cast your vote!
The old Forum
Many of you knew or used the Freeware Forum we had on the old site. It offered opportunities like participating in discussions about freeware, suggest new software products for us to review or to ask whether there is a freeware program for your specific needs.
When we shut down the old site and built the new one, we decided not to migrate the forum anymore because it was based on old and insecure technology and many of the posts were quite aged.
A new Forum?
We are wondering whether launching a new forum would be a good thing. We would like to hear your opinion about it. Should we? Should we not?
Please cast your vote below by clicking the ‘Submit’ button and, if you like, leave a comment if you have more to say about it.
A discord group/server would be better than self hosting it.
Hi Kevin,
that’s a good suggestion. We will check it out…
Best regards,
George
Hi Kevin,
we now had a closer look and test drive with Discord. We have decided not to go that route.
As a group chat platform we like it a lot. We are Slack users ourselves and getting around in Discord is very similar. However, it is not a classic forum concept which the users of our old forum were used to and we are sure they expect to get back that kind of platform.
Another reason not to go with Discord are serious concerns about data privacy. There are several articles out there going into more details about how bad Discord is doing in that regard.
Anyway, thanks a lot for the suggestion. It was very interesting to get hands on experience with it.
Best regards,
George
Thanks for looking into it George.
If you do have a forum or when!, could you have RSS feed for each section of the forum.
that way, I get a notification of new messages quicker than waiting until I next visit the forum website.
(also had problem with recapta not show on page, it shows in bottom corner only)
why did you take down this link?

+ 1 to George’s approval Kevin.
I loved the forum because I could ask where I could get a program to do a job and I knew the answer would be safe & reliable
