The initial download is a web installer so further bandwidth is required to setup download Windows Live Photo Gallery, Windows Live Movie Maker which shares many of the same features, and any other Windows Live programs that will be updated if they are already installed (OneDrive, Mail, Family Safety, Writer)
Microsoft discourages using older versions of Windows Live Essentials as there is at least one security vulnerability with the Writer module:
