I've written about this website before, but I use it so often I thought it deserved another mention. :)
AlternativeTo is a new approach to finding good software. Find the application you want to replace and you get great alternatives, based on user recommendations.You'll find free, open source and commercial apps here, and you can sort by the many platforms or type of license.
Much of the information comes from community input so there's usually new apps in most categories. If you find a program or app annoys you or you want other features, this is the place to go. Likewise if you're looking for, say, RSS readers - check out the category for good suggestions on open source, free and commercial license programs.

I remember when I found AlternativeTo (a long ago) and used it often. But one day I didn't get what I wanted, so I decided to search for another good source of information. Then I found Gizmo! :-)
Since then, Gizmo and AlternativeTo are always on my way. But to be honest, nowadays Gizmo is my main source.
