Wallpaper of the Week: Nightfall at Lake Aurora

toggle-button

This weeks wallpaper shows off the blues, greens and purples of a night sky Aurora shining softly over a lake flanked by mountains. The mountains are steep on the left side, while the right side is shallower, has some tree cover and tapers off as it nears the water at the far end. While I'm not usually a fan of composite images, this composition of a photo of the Aurora in Iceland and a photo of Lake Bannalp in Switzerland appears flawless. Icons are highly visible on this dark background.

If you didn't say that is a composite image, probably I would never know, rhiannon! X-D

Great job by Dominic Kamp, very beautiful... thank you so much! :-)

You're welcome. :) I wasn't aware it was a composite image until I read the description. Looks seamless to me.

That's a beaut rhiannon, thanks :)
I just changed from another great Aurora shot at APOD..

Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is one of my favorite sites.

I appreciate nature and landscape photography as much as the next person but maybe it's time to explore other wallpaper categories. That particular website offers some very nice city nightscapes for example. Still can't figure out why they think it's necessary to provide screen resolutions to 13 decimal places though.

Feel free to post links to wallpapers you like here in the comments, myself and others who enjoy a wide range of wallpapers would be interested in seeing what you've turned up. :)
