Our Review:

TuneIn Radio is undoubtedly one of the most popular apps giving you a great opportunity to tune in and listen to local and worldwide radio stations on your Android phones and tablets wherever you go.

After install, this app shows you three tabs Live, Favorites and Browse on top of the screen. Under the Live tab, it suggests some live feeds shown in live tiles based on your settings. On a smartphone, you can easily go to the next category by swiping up or down, or check out the next radio stations in the same category by swiping left or right. Tap any of them and the stream starts playing back after a few seconds of buffering.

On a station that's playing now and suits your taste, you can bookmark it by touching a Heart button and have your favorite station automatically saved under the Favorites tab.

If the suggested feeds are not enough, you can look for more stations using the Browse tab. Either search your local radios, or browse a huge selection of streams by location, by language or by categories including music, sports, news, talks and podcasts from over 100,000 live radio stations and 2 million podcasts, concerts or shows from every corner of the world for free. I did find most of the local stations I like and bookmarked them from a quick search result on my device.

The user interface of this app is well thought out. It gives you an option to switch to a Car Mode that transforms small tabs and menus into big buttons taking up a full screen for an easy tap when you're on the road. User settings are not short either in this free version, letting you edit Live feeds, set alarm, set sleep time or choose other options you like.

TuneIn Radio is excellent among the radio apps in the market although it is supported by adverts which occupy part of the screen real estate but I don’t find them intrusive.
