Tips for Editing Articles in the Standard Format (Outdated)

TSA Article Creation Script helps you create articles in the standard format. With the Script, you can create details from Form, empty article, sample article (3 products) and headed paragraph.

After creating the articles, you may need to edit or update the articles from time to time. Some tips here are helpful for you to edit the articles in the standard format generated by the Script.

If you're editing source code, try to get an external html editor with more features, such as Notepad++ with html set as the default language, to make editing easier and follow these basic Editing Steps:

  1. In WYSIWYG mode of FCKeditor, click the Source Icon Source Icon.
  2. Copy the source code of the article (click inside code page, press Ctrl-A, then Ctrl-C) and paste it to Notepad++ (press Ctrl-V).
  3. Edit the codes with the tips.
  4. Copy the edited code from Notepad++ (press Ctrl-A, then Ctrl-C) and paste it to FCKeditor (press Ctrl-A, then Ctrl-V).
  5. Click the Source Icon again to check the article in WYSIWYG mode of FCKeditor, then click Submit.

If you're editing the articles in WYSIWYG mode of FCKeditor, you can edit the articles right away for some tips here without an external editor, and click Submit after editing.

How to change the rating of a product?

Method A (Editing source)

To change a rating of Product 1, under Editing Step 3, search for <!-- #### BEGIN: Product 1 Details #### --> which reads as follows:

The current rating of Product 1 is 8. If you want to change it to 9, replace only the number 8 with 9 in the three places so that they read as follows:

Method B (WYSIWYG mode)

In WYSIWYG mode of FCKeditor, follow these steps to change a product rating, say, from 8 to 9:

  1. Select the Rating image Rating 8 of 10
  2. Click the Insert/Edit Image icon Insert/Edit Image Icon
  3. Rename the image file to  ... icon_9_votes.png"
  4. Change the Alternative Text to Rating 9 of 10
  5. Click the "Advanced" tab and change the Advisory Title to Rating 9 of 10
  6. Click OK.

(Note: The rating must be within the range of 0 to 10).

 

How to remove or add Gizmo's top pick?

Method A (Editing source)

To remove Gizmo's Top Pick from Product 1, under Editing Step 3, search for <!-- #### BEGIN: Product 1 Details #### --> which reads as follows:

Cut only the part outlined in Green, and proceed with the Editing Step 4.

To add Gizmo's Top Pick to a product, copy the part outlined in Green, and paste it to the related section of the product right before <h2> so that it reads as the above before cutting.

Method B (WYSIWYG mode)

In WYSIWYG mode of FCKeditor, follow these steps to change a Gizmo's top pick from one product to another:

  1. Select the Gizmo's Top Pick image at one product
  2. Cut the image (press Ctrl-X)
  3. Click the space next to the Rating image Rating 10 of 10 of another product, press space bar 4 times for spacing
  4. Paste the Gizmo's Top Pick image (press Ctrl-V).
 

How to change a product screenshot?

The screenshot created by the TSA Article Creation Script is a dummy screenshot with the image file names as follows:

The URL after src (outlined in red) contains a screenshot's thumbnail (width=200 pixels), while the URL after href (outlined in blue) contains a screenshot in bigger size (width=500 pixels).

Assuming that you've uploaded to the TSA site two screenshot files called Product2-200.jpg and Product2-500.jpg in a width of 200 pixels and 500 pixels respectively, then follow either of the methods below.

Method A (Editing source)

Under Editing Step 3:

  1. Replace "/files/images/no_screenshot_t.jpg"with "/files/images/Product2-200.jpg"
  2. Replace "/files/images/no_screenshot.jpg"with "/files/images/Product2-500.jpg"
  3. Change the product name after altand titleaccordingly
  4. If you want to align the screenshot's thumbnail to the right, change "left"to "right"after align.
 

Method B (WYSIWYG mode)

In WYSIWYG mode of FCKeditor:

  1. Select the screenshot of the product
  2. Click the Insert/Edit Image icon Insert/Edit Image Icon
  3. Enter /files/images/Product2-200.jpg in the URL box
  4. Enter Alternative text
  5. Enter 8 in HSpace box
  6. Select left or right in the Align drop-down menu
  7. Click the "Link" tab and enter /files/images/Product2-500.jpg in the URL box
  8. Select New Window (_blank) in the Target drop-down menu
  9. Click the "Advanced" tab and enter the Advisory Title
  10. Click OK.
 

How to edit homepage and download-page links in Quick Selection Guide?

Method (WYSIWYG mode recommended)

The standard format created by TSA Article Creation Script contains 3 product links and 2 download links for each product in the Quick Selection Guide. It's rather quick and easy to edit these links in WYSIWYG mode of FCKeditor.

Edit homepage link (containing 3 links from Product Name, Homepage Icon and Link Text)

  1. Highlight the whole product name (e.g. Product 1) near the rating image in Quick Selection Guide
  2. Click the Insert/Edit Link Icon Insert/Edit link
  3. Enter/paste the URL highlighted and click OK
  4. Click the Homepage Icon Homepage link of the product
  5. Click the Insert/Edit Link Icon Insert/Edit link
  6. Enter/paste the URL highlighted and click OK
  7. Replace the homepage link text with a new one
  8. Select the whole text of the new homepage link (click the text 3 times consecutively)
  9. Click the Insert/Edit Link Icon Insert/Edit link
  10. Enter/paste the URL highlighted and click OK

Edit download-page link (containing 2 links from Download Icon and Download-page Link Text)

  1. Click the Download Icon Download link of the product
  2. Click the Insert/Edit Link Icon Insert/Edit link
  3. Enter/paste the URL highlighted and click OK
  4. Replace the download-page link text with a new one
  5. Highlight the whole text of the new download-page link (click the text 3 times consecutively)
  6. Click the Insert/Edit Link Icon Insert/Edit link
  7. Enter/paste the URL highlighted and click OK
 

How to change the Anchor Name of a product?

The sample article created by the Script contains a link (outlined in green below) from the product name in the Discussion section to a bookmark (or anchor name, outlined in red below) in the Quick Selection Guide.

Method A (Editing source)

To change the anchor name of Product 1, under Editing Step 3, replace "product1"with a useful name such as a product name like "Color-Cop"(join the words with a hyphen) after name in the Quick Selection Guide, and replace "#product1"with "#Color-Cop"(lead by a pound sign, case sensitive) in the Discussion section.

 

Method B (WYSIWYG mode)

In WYSIWYG mode of FCKeditor:

  1. Select the Bookmark Icon Bookmark Icon of the product in the Quick Selection Guide. (If the browser such as Chrome does not allow selecting the Bookmark Icon, move the cursor to the right of the icon, press backspace to remove it.)
  2. Click the Insert/Edit Anchor Icon Insert/Edit Anchor Icon
  3. Enter a useful name such as a product name like Color-Cop (join the words with a hyphen) in the box under Anchor Name and click OK
  4. Scroll up to the Discussion section and select the whole product name
  5. Click the Insert/Edit Link Icon Insert/Edit Link Icon
  6. Select "Link to anchor in the text" under Link Type
  7. Select the anchor name (which has been entered) from the drop-down menu and click OK.
 

How to insert new product details in Quick Selection Guide?

Method (Editing source only)

Go to TSA Article Creation Script, fill up the product details and click "Create Details from Form". Copy the codes created to the clipboard (click inside code page, press Ctrl-A then Ctrl-C).

After completing Editing Step 1 and 2, if you want to insert the new product details say between Product 1 and 2 in Notepad++, search for <!-- #### END: Product 1 Details #### --> which reads as follows:

Paste/insert the codes from the clipboard (press Ctrl-V) in between <!-- #### END: Product 1 Details #### --> and <!-- #### BEGIN: Product 2 Details #### -->, followed by Editing Step 4.

 

How to insert Tags at the end?

The last section of the template is called Tags. Here, you should add some relevant terms, if you have time. The idea is that this area can be used for common misspellings or other variations that you have not included in your main text. You can also put those terms here as well, though. Therefore, there will be a list here of many possible variants of the article title - so that you have a chance to think about if you maybe forgot to use one, and so that if somebody speaks another language and spells it wrongly, they will still be sent to your page as the incorrect version is there in the text. As an example, for a review of Best Free Antivirus, you could put the usual names plus some variations like this:

best free antivirus, best antivirus, antiviros, free antvirus, antivirus free download
