If you like to stay up-to-date on global business and finance news, or have even been buying shares from the stock markets as a casual trader or an investor, it is definitely worthwhile to check out what news and stock apps that can help monitor market trends or manage your investments.
Among such apps, Bloomberg is one of the renowned and powerful apps to use. It is a real time ticker that continuously updates news and information for all major markets in the world, and a great way to track your watchlist performance, manage stocks, currencies and more.
When you first run this app, it offers a preloaded watchlist with a few items to help you start out. Nevertheless you can sign in to add stocks, currencies or other items to your own watchlist.
To try it out, I add a few stock items, the purchase prices and number of lots acquired, the app then retrieves the market prices, and calculates the cost, value, and profit and loss of each stock item.
It also totals up the values of all items and lets you have a glance of your total gain, day gain, total cost and total market value based on the current market prices. What a time saver!
Should you need to check the stock performance in the past, tap an item and you will get a stock chart viewable in a time duration you choose, while key statistics, financial performances and recent news of the stock are available for reading as well right from the app.
This excellent and robust app has a separate version for the iPad, iPhone, Android tablet and Android smartphone. Unfortunately some features as described above may not be available to some of the mobile devices. For example, I could see totals for all stock items on the iPad but not on the Android smartphone at time of this review.
