Shorten a Web Address for Ease of Sharing

For example, if you want to share a link to this page, this original link can be shortened to that directs you to the same page. You can do this using a URL shortener, in which URL means a web address, or an abbreviation for “Uniform Resource Locator”.

Among various online services, you may use Google’s URL shortener at in a browser or simply use a mobile app on your smartphone. One of the third party apps I like to use based on this Google service is URL Shortener (

Upon opening this app, you will need to sign into one of your Google accounts. After which, using this app is pretty straightforward—paste your long URL in a box and tap the app logo to the right, a shortened URL is then added to the list.

From the list of short URLs, tap one of them to copy to the clipboard or share via email, Facebook, Google+ or any other third party apps installed on your device.

You can also trace the click analytics of your shortened URLs for the past two hours, the past day, week, month or all time, with their distribution across referrers, browsers, countries and platforms. Sharing the analytics is made convenient for you while syncing data is optional and at time intervals of your choice.

This is a free, great and handy tool to use, right on your Android device.
