Need A Personal Information Manager? Here's A Free One.

Essential PIMUsing a PC to manage your personal information isn't as easy as it should be, because there are far too many programs to choose from. In my experience most PIM products are either way too complicated, or difficult to use, or both.

Essential PIM strikes a nice balance. It's a Windows program which offers a really nice calendar, notepad and task list. There's even an email client built in, so you can use it to read and send mail. It's reminiscent of Microsoft Outlook, but is much less complex. And although it's a paid-for product, there's also a free version available that has all of the above-mentioned features in a perfectly usable form.

Try it for yourself. The download page is at http://www.essentialpim.com/get-epim and it's around 12 MB. Ensure you choose the free download rather than the Pro one.

You can choose either an installable version or a portable one. Essential PIM is malware-free according to VirusTotal and Web of Trust.

Friends, Romans, countrymen,
I come here not to Praise the Pro,
but
to Bury doubts about what you lose with the free version
(And as Rob points out you don't lose much)

I will give the free portable version a try, as I am currently comparing free Note Outliners.
(And my interest is also piqued for the email client)

Excellent program that I have used for 10 years. A bonus is the user-friendly email client.

Me too: many years happy usage of the free version.
