An awesome distraction-free text editor for Android
Pros & Cons:
JotterPad, a plain text editor making full use of the screen estate of a small mobile device with minimalist user interface, allows you to focus on writing without distractions of a full-blown word processor.
It’s perfect for preparing and editing any text documents when you are on the go and it works with individual files either on your local device or cloud storage.
When needed, a three-dot menu is ready for you to research words with dictionaries, select a file type to work with, check statistics for word, paragraph and character counts as well as reading time.
Besides an optional extended on-screen keyboard available for quick input of special characters, brackets, indent, or moving the cursor left and right, you can also work with an external full-size physical keyboard with shortcuts allowed.
In the free version, file types including pure text (txt) and Markdown (md) are supported with preview capability. From the file list, you can also share and export a document into rich text (RTF) or HTML format, or print into PDF, which unfortunately carries a watermark.
Removing watermarks and exporting a file to docx format are only available in the Get Creative version with an in-app purchase, which also offers some other features like version control, syntax highlighting and dark theme.
Despite these limitations, JotterPad is still excellent and it is more than good enough for average users. It works perfectly as a plain text editor on your mobile.
