Our Review:

The free version of HD Tune provides a useful benchmark to test your hard drive performance as well as a block scanner which works with both external and internal hard drives.

The utility has a graphical benchmark to bench internal/external hard drives performance, and scans for bad blocks of data on internal and external drives with graphical diagram. It also lists S.M.A.R.T., power on hours, and general information for internal drives only.

To make the program portable, copy HDTune.exe to the folder you like after installation.

The free version is unfortunately no longer updated unless you go for a paid-for Pro version with more advanced features.
