Google Earth Pro Now Free (Was $399)

Until a few days ago, the Pro version of Google Earth had a price tag of $399. Google has just announced that it is now going to be free.

Here is the description of this advanced mapping program:

Google Earth Pro has all the easy-to-use features and detailed imagery of Google Earth, along with advanced tools that help you measure 3D buildings, print high-resolution images for presentations or reports, and record HD movies of your virtual flights around the world.

To get a free key you have to sign up at this link. The download is from this page.

More information about the program can be found here.

The application may be free but I am sure that Google will come up with some way to get income from its use. In the meantime, have fun playing with it.

It appears that the log in screen, even though being used for the Pro version, is the same screen used for the non pro version because after clicking on the enhanced trial version it took me to the google earth pro page, where I had just downloaded pro from. While this might not be the "you were right" scenario I thought it was, I still think you are right because of my never ending belief that google is always up to something.

UPDATE -
Now you don't have to sign up to get Google Earth Pro. After downloading the app you simply enter your email address as your username and enter the key "GEPFREE"
for the needed key and your good to google.

Hey Vic,
You were right. I'm in the middle of the log in screen after installing and there are two items of interest, "want to try a free trial of google earth enhanced" and "ready to buy google earth enhanced". I guess I'll see what it's all about.

Oh, thanks for the tip.
